At
the end of the main high street and about a 10-minute walk from the tube, Bird
serves 'the best fried chicken you've ever tasted'. It doesn't advertise that
it is gluten free (if that's even something you are interested in) but it's
known by word of mouth that I also confirmed with a quick phone call to the
restaurant. It wasn't too busy for a Saturday (we were seated right away) and
we were greeted with a retro - orange relaxed vibe with wooden benches and 80's
decor.

Ordering
our drinks (they have lots of different beers to choose from as well as good
cocktails), we got down to the main show. The chicken. The chicken you can
order by pieces, having as many as you wish and sides are all ordered
separately. This is great for sharing (or stealing!) and good for taking lots
of people. You then also get to glaze your chicken with a wide choice for
different palettes or chose from a dipping sauce for the less
adventurous.
We
went with some pieces and sides to share, but if you are really hungry they
have options like burgers and waffles (please note: those are not gluten free).
I recommend the BBQ sauce and the fresh, citrus coleslaw and the chicken skin
flavour is delish! A perfect combination of herby and meaty and not dry!

For those that like things hot, they have hot salt/sauces on the table and for those that like something sweet, share a banana split for dessert and relive your childhood.

Bird
is somewhere I’d definitely re-visit to hit my fried chicken cravings. The mix
and match options of the menu mean that there is something for everyone to
enjoy and munch on!
The
place has also got a stand alone bar for having a few drinks and watch the
world pass by as well as 'The Doughnut Hatch' with grab and go Doughnuts to go
alongside.
